Yes. We have all heard it before…there is no “one size fits all” pertaining to most everything in life. This is especially the case when it comes to our personal health and fitness. The magic sauce program our friend used to fry off unwanted fat, sleep like a baby at night and give them the gusto to get a promotion at work may leave us dead in the dirt and wondering a slew of those ever so popular demoralizing questions like,
“What’s wrong with me?”
“Why am I never good enough?”
Side note: The impact of such disempowering questions is vast and has tragic effects on our psychy, mood and life path. Considering those are some pretty heavy hitters in determining how our lives unfold, I suffice it to say our awareness and aim of our internal dialog and the magnitude of questions we ask ourselves is pretty damn important. That is a loaded subject for another post. Let’s get back on task…
Out of curiosity, a commitment to manifest my best health possible and further my experience and education in the health realm I opted to get a food intolerance test performed. Going in, I had been tuning my nutrition for years and although I eat a host of incredible foods I could feel bouts of bloat and gas, lethargy, trouble sleeping at times and other occasional symptoms I wanted to get to the bottom of!
I believe roughly 184 foods were tested and the results were “interesting” as my Naturopath confirmed. Here they are…
I get the details are challenging to see, however, everything in red is a food my body has developed antibodies towards and is fighting for some reason, causing inflammation. The foods may shock you! There are 47 total and here are the top 10 shockers to me, in random order:
Spinach, Asparagus, Avocado, Quinoa, Turmeric, Carrot, Celery, Squash, Melon, Cabbage
Taken from The Hills Medical Group brochure:
“A 23 year ongoing study reveals that 95% of the population has what is know as a “type two” toxic reaction (IgG response) to common everyday foods that you eat regularly. Unfortunately the foods that cause this toxic shock may vary widely according to your individual system. And “type two” reactions are delayed reactions, so they are very hard to detect on your own. Perfectly healthy foods can be virtual poison to your particular system. The latest trendy diets may be good for general information. But everyone’s system is different, so you want to find out which foods are toxic to your particular system. This will help you be healthier and more energetic than ever before.”
Without jackknifing straight down the rabbit hole into the nitty gritty of the subject and philosophizing on the “how comes” and such let’s simply look at the face value for today.
As Shawn Stevenson says, FOOD IS INFORMATION people. Every bit of food you eat provides the Lego blocks to build the beautiful, formidable fortress that is YOU. The food you eat tells your body what is happening, what is good, what is bad and what it needs to do. Spoiler alert…the food we eat today is drastically different than that we evolved on from generations before and even if you are choosing the best foods possible that most resemble those our ancestors feasted on they are still far from making the mark of those same foods centuries ago.
So what’s your point Nyk?
Be a student of YOU!
And when you gather information, do something with it! Take action. Your quality of life depends on it. If you do not have quality of life, what else is there? What level of zeal can you experience without a sound quality of life? Your health is the ultimate foundation.
My next action—>I will be performing a follow-up test in the next week or two which is a bit more graphic in nature and then plotting an 8-12 week elimination of the full 47 foods in red as well as limiting 13 more that were right on the cusp of red (noted by checkmarks in the picture).
There will be follow-up and progress posts pertaining to this subject and my journey through the current unknown of food sensitivities.
Until the next time-LIVE ELEVATED!
